Bio
Born in Toronto. Raised in the Yellowknife NT and area. Discovered rap &
Hip Hop music at age 12 via MuchMusic. Started writing immediately, under
the influence of acts ranging from NWA & Public Enemy to DJ Jazzy Jeff and
the Fresh Prince. Recorded first album at age 18 in Yellowknife, under the
pseudonym "Giant Leroy." Has since eschewed the tape and disassociated from
it.
Self-taught producer/artist for years. Collaborated with Ottawa group
Rez-A-Rek. Clash of egos led to band's dissolution after summer 2003.
After years of alternating between work and depression, enrolled in audio
recording / music production school in Toronto. Graduated at top of class
in 2009. Changed name to Duke (apparently after Hunter Thompson's
alter-ego, Raoul Duke).
Interned at Euphonic Sound (2009-10), co-founding United in Flow with James
Pew & Mindbender Supreme in the process.
Currently eats, sleeps, breathes, writes, shits and curses the government
in Toronto. Shares life with a girlfriend, an Izzy and a cat.
